形態特徵

Erect perennial herbs; stems 0.3–1.5 m tall, quadrangular, 4-sulcate, densely apressed incurved-pilose or puberulous.
Petiole 0.2–2.5 cm long, alate apically; blade ovate-orbicular or ovate to lanceolate, 0.8–11 cm long, 0.7–3.5 cm wide, apex acuminate, acute or obtuse, base abruptly attenuate or broadly cuneate-attenuate margins, crenate except at entire base, thin-chartaceous, lower surface greenish, pilose, tomentose or sometimes nearly glabrous.
Panicles terminal, lax, of many-flowered cymes; cymes 2–9 cm long, peduncle 1–4 cm long; pedicels 3–8 mm long; branchlets divaricate and elongate; foliaceous bracts similar to cauline leaves but smaller, ovate, gradually reduced to bracts upward; bracts and bracteoles ovate or linear, small to minute but conspicuous; calyx campanulate, ca. 2.5 mm long and in diam., teeth 5, triangular, subequal; fruiting calyx erect, broadly campanulate, 4–5 mm long, ca. 5 mm in diam., round at base; corolla ca. 7 mm long, white, bluish white or purplish, always purplish blue on upper lip; tube conspicuously saccate on upper side near base, nearly 1/2 length of corolla, ca. 2 mm in diam. in throat, slightly curved, limb 2-lipped, upper lip equally 4-parted, lower lip oblate; stamens and style included.
Nutlets ovoid, ca. 2 mm long, yellowish brown, with yellow or white glands.
